Travel With Children - Koh Lanta

Of all the Thai Islands that we have visited, Koh Lanta is one of the best and most convenient to visit with kids. Beautiful sandy beaches, laid-back charm and family friendly hotels. What more would you want from a paradise island? Koh Lanta has the best of both; mountains covered in jungle, a protected mangrove forest and a pristine national park so you will surely find endless things to do here.

Tyson Trails Recommends Visiting

The Beach - An obvious choice when you are staying on a beautiful island but Koh Lanta really know how to do beaches, each has a different vibe. We absolutely loved Long Beach (Phrae Ae Beach) which, as the name suggests is a long stretch of golden sand fringed with nice restaurants. The atmosphere at Long beach is very family friendly and you'll find most places will have play areas and beach toys for the kids.

Koh Lanta Dog Rescue - Lanta Animal Welfare was founded by Junie Kovacs in 2005. Her mission was to end the suffering of the hundreds of homeless, abused and injured animals on Koh Lanta. To date, they have sterilised and treated over 15,000 animals, and with your support we continue to grow helping more and more animals each year. As they are home to so many stray dogs they are always looking for volunteers and it makes for such a rewarding day! The best time to volunteer to exercise a rescue dog is from 9am – 11am or 15:00-17:00. Visitors can socialise with the rescue dogs in their areas. This is dependant on the visitors’ experience with animals and how busy the centre has been.

Where To Stay

We chose to stay at Lanta Casuarina Beach Resort and cant recommend it more highly. It is set right on the beach has a fab kids pool for babies, an infinity pool that we spent most days in and an onsite restaurant that we ate at most nights whilst watching the sunset over the sea. They have a selection of rooms including beach bungalows, free cots to use and beautiful gardens surrounding it.

Dress Code

The weather is warm In Lanta so beach wear is acceptable, as always if you are visiting any religious places please do cover up.
